The Washington Post ranks large, mid-size and small businesses operating in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area based on an employee satisfaction survey conducted by Workplace Dynamics. This survey asks employees to rate their company in 35 questions to include topics such as culture, management and organizational health.

A total of 3,000 companies were nominated for the award and only 150 were selected. The announcement was made on Thursday, June 15 at a ceremony in The Washington Post Live Center. The official list of the 150 companies selected will be featured in a special section of The Washington Post on Sunday, June 18, 2017.
